Trade Associations Urge FERC to Expand Blanket Certificate Authority for Certain LNG-Related Infrastructure
The Interstate Natural Gas Association of America (INGAA) and the Natural Gas Supply Association (NGSA) submitted a letter to FERC on Sept. 19 urging the Commission to apply a lighter form of regulation, which it currently applies to smaller pipeline projects, to new pipelines associated with existing LNG terminals. The Commission currently is considering new rules to extend this blanket certificate authority to certain interstate natural gas facilities that were previously ineligible for such consideration. INGAA and NGSA asserted in their letter that FERC’s proposed new rules are too narrow in scope and should extend to pipeline facilities that connect existing LNG terminals with existing interstate pipelines. Tuesday ‘s edition of Platt’s LNG Daily provides further coverage. The letter is available in the FERC e-Library in Docket No. RM06-7.
