Stakeholders Provide Testimony on Sparrows Point Bills
Critics and supporters of AES’ proposed Sparrows Point LNG terminal testified yesterday before Maryland state legislators at a hearing on two bills designed to hinder the project’s development. One measure would prohibit dredging by private parties near the terminal’s proposed site and limit the Public Service Commission’s discretion to recommend approval of LNG facilities in Baltimore County located near residential areas. The other measure would impose an impact fee on LNG terminal developers for the cost of additional government services warranted by their projects. The Baltimore Sun provides further details.
