Sparrows Point Opponents Concerned About Court Delay

After a judge last week postponed a hearing on an injunction filed against the Sparrows Point Shipyard to bar dredging in the vicinity, the plaintiffs expressed disappointment that dredging is underway while the case is delayed. A circuit judge had allowed dredging to resume after the LNG Opposition Team, the local activist group that requested the injunction in an effort to block AES’ Sparrow Point proposal, was unable to post a $750,000 bond required to temporarily enjoin the project. The group is concerned that, as a result of the delay, the ongoing dredging will stir more toxic sediment at Baltimore’s harbor. The Baltimore Examiner has further details.
