Shell Announces U.S. Mariner Recruiting Effort for Global LNG Fleet

Shell announced late last week that it plans to actively recruit U.S. mariners for its global LNG fleet. Shell Trading’s general manager of shipping, Bob Salmon, said, “[t]he addition of U.S. mariners will positively enhance Shell’s diverse seafarer skill pool and provide Shell and Nakilat [a subsidiary of Qatar Gas] with highly experienced personnel for their LNG fleets.” Sean T. Connaughton, U.S. Maritime Administrator, said, “[w]e applaud Shell’s announcement, which coincides perfectly with a universal training standards agreement facilitated recently by the Maritime Administration.” PR Newswire (via Fox Business) carries the company’s press release.
