Senator Wyden Criticizes DOE LNG Export Study

Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR), the incoming chairman of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, today sent a letter to U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Secretary Steven Chu criticizing the recent study commissioned by DOE on the macroeconomic effects of LNG exports on the U.S. economy. Wyden stated that the flaws of the study “are numerous and render this study insufficient for [DOE] to use in any export determination.”  Wyden stated that a set of transparent criteria must be in place to effectively evaluate LNG export applications to gauge whether each application is in the public interest.
