Saint John Fishermen Propose Committee to Coordinate Fishing and LNG Vessel Traffic
CBC News reports that fishermen based in Saint John, New Brunswick, are concerned with the increased ship traffic due to the Canaport LNG terminal currently under construction. The Fundy North Fishermen’s Association has proposed establishing a committee to coordinate LNG vessel traffic with fishing fleets. An official with the Canadian Department of Fisheries and Oceans said that there is precedent for such a committee and commented, “[T]he more people talk and get together and discuss the issues as a group, probably the better off we all are.”
