Report: U.S. LNG Imports Could Be Down 22% in September
Reuters (available via LexisNexis) reports that Waterborne Energy, a Houston-based consulting firm, predicts that LNG imports to the United States will be approximately 63 Bcf, down 22% from August’s import volumes. Steve Johnson, an analyst with Waterborne, said, “Overall, it’s the beginning of the winter [natural gas storage] build in Asia, and that’s being exacerbated by the Japanese nuclear situation.” Despite predicting a slow September for LNG imports, Johnson expects total LNG imports to the United States to reach 890 Bcf, a year-on-year increase of more than 50%.
