Provincial Cabinet Overrides Farmland Commission’s Objections to Rabaska LNG Proposal
The Montreal Gazette reports that the provincial cabinet of Quebec has exercised its authority to remove a commission empowered to regulate the use of farmland from the decision-making process on the Rabaska LNG proposal. Natural Resources Minister Claude Bechard said the Commission de protection du territoire agricole’s recent decision to oppose the terminal site could further constrain the region’s gas market. The cabinet also announced that it expected to make a decision on the Rabaska LNG terminal in “10 to 15 days.”
