Newsday columnist James Klurfeld says that in light of President Bush’s call last week for the nation to reduce its dependency on imported fuel, it is disappointing that local politicians “have taken the easy, knee-jerk way out” and oppose LNG development on Long Island. Klurfeld says the risks and benefits of any proposal must be considered and decisions must be influenced by facts.
