Op-Ed: Halting Cabrillo Port LNG Proposal Should Send a Message to Companies
An Op-Ed carried by the Malibu Surfside News suggests that the halting of BHP Billiton’s Cabrillo Port LNG proposal should have wider significance than merely cancelling the project. The author wants companies to know that “[i]f a company wants to do business in California and its provision of resources, such as LNG, comes at a cost to native populations, or coral reefs, or other fragile and endanger [sic] habitat, that has to be factored into the project’s cost to the people of California and must be part of the public policy debate about whether this state needs or wants resources that come with an environmentally devastating price tag.”
