NY Congressman Introduces Legislation Restricting Offshore LNG
Rep. Tim Bishop (D-N.Y.) has introduced legislation that, if passed, would prohibit the placement of LNG facilities “in estuaries of national significance,” a designation made by the Environmental Protection Agency. Although Rep. Bishop introduced the bill to block the development of the Broadwater LNG terminal in Long Island Sound, the bill would also prohibit floating storage regasification units in the 27 other estuaries of national significance. Bishop’s press release is here. Platts LNG Daily provides further coverage. [Subscription required]
