North Carolina Property Rezoned to Permit Construction of LNG Peak-Shaving Facility
The Fayetteville Observer reports that the Robeson County Board of Commissioners rezoned a 683-acre site in Smiths Township, N.C., from residential agriculture to heavy industrial in order to allow Piedmont Natural Gas to construct a 1.25 Bcf LNG peak-shaving facility. According to the news report, a recess was called to give company officials an opportunity to speak with local residents. Following the recess, residents said that they support the project, and that Piedmont agreed to answer questions on the project and allow local residents to tour the facility.
