NAFTA To Investigate Proposed Mexican Facility
NAFTA’s Secretariat of the Commission for Environmental Cooperation yesterday ruled against a request by the Government of Mexico to suspend the Secretariat’s investigation into the government’s approval of Chevron’s proposed Mar Adentro LNG terminal. Environmentalists filed a complaint in May 2005 against Mexico alleging that federal regulators violated Mexico’s environmental laws when approving the offshore regasification facility, despite environmental concerns regarding the nearby Coronado Islands.
