Most Maine Gubernatorial Candidates Support LNG Development
A recent survey conducted by the Associated Press has found that most candidates running for the governor of Maine believe that LNG projects planned for the state would encourage regional economic development, but also say that they must receive local and federal approval. Incumbent Governor John Baldacci did not expressly endorse LNG, but did highlight the working group he has formed to review all LNG terminal proposals. At least one candidate, the Green Independent nominee, disagreed and said that LNG development “doesn’t really make very much sense for the people of Maine.” The AP article is carried via The Boston Globe.
