Mexico Postpones Issuance of Manzanillo Tenders
Mexico’s state-owned power company, Comision Federal de Electricidad (CFE), plans to issue tenders for building and supplying the 500 MMcf/d Manzanillo LNG facility a month later than scheduled due to a procedural amendment that allows CFE to approve the project without the consent of the finance ministry. “We estimate that in the month of May, around the middle of May, will publish [the tender],” Eduardo Buendia, head of cogeneration projects at the CFE, told Reuters. While Buendia says he is confident that the tenders will be issued by June, some analysts predict that the decision to proceed with tenders may again be postponed due to the upcoming national elections in July.
