Massachusetts Releases Review of LNG Storage Facilities
In a Sept. 25 report, the Massachusetts State Department of Telecommunications and Energy concludes that, “with the exception of KeySpan’s Lynn facility, the LNG facilities in Massachusetts substantially comply with all existing federal and state security regulations.” Gov. Mitt Romney had ordered the comprehensive review of the state’s LNG storage facilities following a security breach at the Lynn facility in August; additional investigation of that incident is in progress. According to DTE’s press release, the governor also recommended changes to safety and security regulations, including increased penalties for violation.
