Massachusetts Passes Bill Restricting LNG Transit

Today’s Herald News reports on the status of a Massachusetts bill designed to restrict LNG vessel transit by imposing clearance requirements under bridges and an exclusion zone around the vessel. The bill had been delayed “due to several technical issues that the attorney felt needed changing,” said sponsor Sen. Joan Menard (D-Fall River), but “we decided to enact it as is, send it to the governor and allow his office to make the technical changes.” Weaver’s Cove spokesman James A. Grasso told the Boston Globe that the bill is unconstitutional.
