Massachusetts Gov. Romney Sends Back LNG Bill

Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney has sent back to state legislators a bill designed to block LNG vessel transit, striking language inserted by House Speaker Salvatore DiMasi (D-Boston) designed to force the closure of the Everett LNG terminal. “I cannot responsibly permit the closure of a facility that is so critical to the supply and distribution of natural gas to Massachusetts,” Romney said. He retained the portion of the bill aimed at new LNG terminals like the Weaver’s Cove project, but removed a reference to terminal expansions. Today’s Herald News has the story.
