Mass. LNG Vessel Bill Passes
The Herald News reports that the Mass. state legislature Friday passed a bill aimed at preventing construction of the Weaver’s Cove LNG terminal in Fall River, Mass. The bill, which restricts LNG vessels from transiting under low bridges and also mirrors language from the law recently passed in Rhode Island prohibiting vessels from coming within certain distances of state assets, was sponsored by Sen. Joan Menard and Rep. Robert Correia, both members of the Mass. State LNG Commission. Menard indicated that the bill was aimed at the Hess LNG Weaver’s Cove project and would not negatively impact proposals for offshore terminals. The bill is expected to be signed by the governor today.
