Mass. LNG Transit Bill Aimed at Everett, Too
The Associated Press interviews Massachusetts House Speaker Salvatore DiMasi (D-Boston) about recently passed LNG legislation, of which LNGLawBlog has obtained a copy. In an apparent reference to the last section of the bill, which mirrors legislation enacted in Rhode Island, DiMasi says he added language seeking to prevent LNG deliveries to Distrigas’ Everett terminal in Boston Harbor even though he believes the provision is unconstitutional. “The point is to get the federal government to pay attention,” he says.
In response to comments on closing the Everett facility, Gov. Mitt Romney said, “We’d literally have people freeze, so that I’m not in favor of.” The AP article is carried in the Boston Herald.
