Maryland Congressional Delegation Calls on FERC to Delay Decision on Sparrows Point

Members of the Maryland Congressional Delegation sent a joint letter to FERC requesting that the Commission delay its decision on the proposed AES Sparrows Point LNG project until the incoming Obama Administration has had the opportunity to examine the concerns expressed by the Department of the Interior and the citizens of Maryland.

Separately, the Baltimore Sun reports that the Army Corps of Engineers has informed FERC that the Corps will not issue a required permit for the AES Sparrows Point LNG regasification terminal project until a number of conditions are met. A spokesperson for the Commission indicated FERC will address all issues raised in the proceeding.
