Mariners’ Unions Agree with each other on LNG Vessel Crews
The Australian AP (carried via Ararat news service) reports that the Seafarers’ International Union of North America (SIU) has signed a solidarity agreement with the Maritime Union of Australia (MUA), which calls for Australian and American crews on LNG carriers calling on U.S. ports. MUA’s national secretary said that they hope the agreement will encourage vessel operators to recognize the advantages of highly skilled crews. Excelerate Energy and Suez North America have recently announced plans to hire more American personnel.
