The Lynn City Council’s proposed ordinance requiring security measures at LNG facilities in the city may infringe on the Massachusetts Department of Telecommunications and Energy’s authority to regulate natural gas infrastructure in the state, according to The Boston Globe. However, Council president J. Timothy Phelan says, “If this passes, and they don’t think we have the authority to do it, their role is to challenge that in court.”
