Local Environmental Group Halts Effort to Stop Gas Pipeline

Friends of Rockwood Park, a New Brunswick environmental group, has withdrawn its lawsuit against the Canadian National Energy Board (NEB) and pipeline project developers Emera and Repsol following the Federal Court of Appeal’s refusal to overturn a decision that will allow Emera and Repsol to build a natural gas pipeline connecting the Canaport LNG import terminal with the U.S.-Canadian border. The Telegraph-Journal reports that the group was prompted to withdraw its suit when the NEB, Emera, and Repsol stated that they would pursue a recovery of legal costs.
