Local Businesses Say LNG Is Potential Threat to Tourism Industry
Local business leaders in Oregon are concerned that the proposed construction of LNG infrastructure may disrupt the state’s tourism industry. “The worst possible scenario for the local tourism industry is if the cruise ships go away,” said the president of the Astoria Lodging Association. “That’s 40,000 people who come to Astoria who could disappear because of (LNG).” Many of the leaders met with local activist groups on Tuesday night to discuss how they can fight the developers of five LNG terminals being proposed for Oregon.
