LNG Industry Faces Construction Delays and Crew Shortages
Supply anticipated by the North American LNG market may be blocked in the short term by financial and logistical hurdles that could delay the completion of liquefaction projects abroad, according to a report in today’s World Gas Intelligence. WGI writes that competition for limited labor, engineering, and construction resources has placed a strain on the industry.
Separately, LNG shipping interests also are contending with a shortage of specially trained and experienced crew, and in some cases are attempting to train crews themselves. “It’s a challenge to train enough crews for the growth we see,” said one shipbroker. [Subscription required]
