LNG Critic Elected Minister of Veterans Affairs in New Canadian Cabinet

A critic of LNG development in Passamaquoddy Bay has been elected minister of veterans affairs under Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s administration. Greg Thompson says industrial areas are more appropriate for LNG terminal proposals and vows to bring the fight against the proposed LNG terminals in Passamaquoddy Bay to Parliament Hill in Ottawa. “Obviously, we are against the passage of LNG tankers through Head Harbour Passage in what we consider to be internal Canadian waters,” he said. “Mr. Harper has stated that we will use every diplomatic and legal means to enforce that.” Today’s Bangor Daily News has the report.
