LNG Commission Approved By Massachusetts Senate
Saturday’s Herald News reports on a bill passed by the Massachusetts Senate last week establishing a commission consisting of state legislators and representatives from the Governor’s and Attorney General’s offices dedicated to examining LNG issues in the State. While State Sen. Joan Menard, D-Fall River, recognized that the State does not have siting authority over LNG terminals, she emphasized the importance of protecting the citizens of Massachusetts. Describing the role of the commission, she stated that “[w]e are hoping it sets some limits on where and how these facilities can be sited.” The legislation requires the commission to issue a report by June 30.
