Lawsuit Will Not Preclude AES from Bahamian Terminal Approval

The Bahama Journal reports on statements by the Bahamian attorney general, Allyson Maynard-Gibson, confirming that the Dominican Republic’s suit against AES for environmental damage will not preclude AES from receiving approval for an LNG terminal in the Bahamas.  Maynard-Gibson did state, however, that the government will consider all factors when determining which LNG terminals are approved.  “[I]f the government decides to proceed with any of these companies, the government will ensure that in the heads of agreement, the kinds of actions or complaints that would have happened in other jurisdictions would be adequately addressed, and remedies provided for in the heads of agreement.”
