Lawsuit Filed Against Interior and BIA Regarding Quoddy Bay LNG Lease

The Vermont Law School Environmental and Natural Resources Clinic today issued a press release announcing that citizen group Nulankeyutomonen Nkihtahkomikumon (We Take Care of Our Land) has sued the Department of the Interior (DOI) and Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) in connection with the proposed Quoddy Bay LNG terminal. The group alleges that endangered and threatened whale species are put at risk by the proposed LNG tanker transit, and that the BIA violated the Endangered Species Act by failing to consult with the National Marine Fisheries Service before authorizing the lease agreement between Quoddy Bay LLC and the Passamaquoddy Tribe.
