Jordan Cove LNG Critics Urge Community Leaders to Take a Stance
The World reports on residents’ frustration as local community leaders decline to take a formal stance on the Jordan Cove LNG terminal and pipeline proposal. “Most of these elected officials, they say they’re still learning about it,” says Jody McCaffree, an opponent of the project. “Even without saying they’re for or against it, they should still be raising issues more than they are now.” Coos Bay Councilor Jeff McKeown encouraged public officials to voice their concerns about the project as a way of better educating citizens, noting that “[t]here’s a lot of bad information out there, like in some pamphlets I’ve seen, that’s out to just plain frighten people inappropriately.”
