Jamaican Power Company Considering Switch to LNG
As progress continues on the planned Jamaican LNG import terminal, an official for the Jamaica Public Service Company Ltd. (JPS) said that the company is seriously considering converting its power plants from fuel oil to natural gas. The Jamaica Gleaner reports that a JPS official said that using LNG would lower costs and reduce environmental pollution, but that “[w]e need to get LNG here by 2013… it has to be here before we can commit to the investment.”
