Hurricane Humberto Damages Golden Pass LNG Tank But Will Not Delay LNG Cargos Heading for Trunkline LNG
The Beaumont Enterprise (Tex.) reports that one of Golden Pass LNG’s storage tanks, currently under construction, sustained some damage caused by the high wind speeds of Hurricane Humberto. A spokesperson for project-developer Exxon Mobil said that “part of the steel inner tank was at a vulnerable stage of construction because it didn’t have a roof in place.” Exxon Mobil is currently assessing the cost of damage to the tank.
Separately, Platts LNG Daily [subscription required] reports that it is unlikely that Humberto will cause any major delay for LNG vessels destined for Trunkline LNG in Lake Charles, La. A Southern Union official refused to comment on the possibility of cargo delays.
