In a presentation to industry analysts, Statoil executive Peter Mellbye predicted that Gazprom will announce its partners in developing the Shtokman gas field at this year’s G8 summit, Norway’s Aftenposten reported on June 16. Though Gazprom has delayed the announcement several times already, Mellbye said the decision among potential partners Statoil, Norsk Hydro, ConocoPhillips, Chevron and Total will “probably happen” at G8, which is scheduled for 15-17 July in St. Petersburg. Shtokman, located in the Arctic Barents Sea, is expected to be developed for LNG exports to the U.S.
