Gasoline Accident Cited to Highlight Concerns about Mass. LNG Facility
Following an explosion of a gasoline tanker truck approximately half a mile from the Distrigas Everett LNG import terminal, United States Rep. Ed Markey (D-Mass.) told the Boston Herald that the accident ought to highlight concerns regarding the nearby LNG facility. Boston’s Mayor Thomas Menino shared Rep. Markey’s concerns. A spokesperson for Distrigas said that tanker trucks that deliver LNG are safer than those transporting gasoline and that the terminal facilities are safe and well-guarded.
