Echoing conclusions from a report released last March, the U.S. Government Accounting Office (GAO) released a second report on security risks facing energy commodity tankers, focusing specifically on tankers carrying oil and LNG. According to the Associated Press, the GAO concludes that some U.S. Coast Guard units lack the resources needed to effectively carry out their security mission regarding LNG and oil tanker vessels.
