Freeport LNG Incorporates Environmentally-Conscious Measures
Local groups and agency officials recently expressed satisfaction with the design of the Freeport LNG terminal, which will incorporate a closed-loop system and special protections for migrating birds. The terminal opted to use noise to prevent birds flying into transmission lines and reduced-glare lighting to minimize disturbance; it also created a birding trail and observatory. Construction of the Texas terminal is underway and operation is scheduled for 2008. An article published by The Facts has further details on these efforts.
