FERC Sends Letters to State Governors Regarding LNG Terminal Proposals

To comply with requirements under the Energy Policy Act of 2005 as codified in Section 3A(b) of the Natural Gas Act, FERC recently has sent letters to the governors of states where LNG terminals are in the pre-filing or application process, requesting the Governors designate the appropriate state agency for the purposes of consulting with FERC regarding state local safety considerations. FERC sent such letters to the Governors of Delaware and New Jersey (Crown Landing), New York (Broadwater), Maryland (Cove Point expansion), Mississippi (Bayou Casotte), Louisiana (Creole Trail), Texas (Port Arthur, Calhoun and Freeport expansion), and Oregon (NorthernStar). These letters can be found at the FERC e-Library in the respective terminal dockets.
