FERC Denies Quoddy Bay LNG’s Request for Rehearing
FERC denied Quoddy Bay LNG’s request for a rehearing in the Maritimes & Northeast Pipeline expansion proceeding yesterday. FERC rejected Quoddy Bay’s argument that its approval of the expansion of the Maritimes& Northeast Pipeline should be conditioned on Canada’s allowing LNG carriers to transit through the Head Harbour Passage. Among its reasons for denying the request, FERC stated that “this proceeding is not the proper forum for the issue of LNG carrier passage through Head Harbour Passage” and that Maritimes & Northeast Pipeline has no control over Canadian policies. The document is available under Docket No. CP06-335 in the FERC eLibrary.
