FERC Commissioner Kelly: U.S. Cannot Rely on Canada for Supply
In response to suggestions that Canadian LNG terminals are a viable alternative to LNG terminals in the United States, FERC Commissioner Suedeen Kelly said that the U.S. Northeast cannot rely on Canada for natural gas supply because Canada is facing its own energy shortfall. Kelly also noted that excess regasification capacity is necessary “to be able to respond to a global LNG market.” Kelly’s remarks were made Friday during a media briefing sponsored by the Center for Liquefied Natural Gas.
