FERC Asks for Deadline Postponement in Weaver’s Cove Appeal

On Tuesday FERC moved to postpone the deadline by which it must file the official record of the Hess LNG proceeding in Weaver’s Cove opponents’ appeal to the First Circuit. FERC wants time to consider requests to reopen the Weaver’s Cove review on the grounds that new plans for more frequent deliveries significantly alter the project. “We wanted it in effect to get the court of appeals to suspend the procedural schedule until FERC can reconsider its decision, and that’s what they filed (Tuesday),” said Edward Berlin, an attorney representing the city of Fall River, Mass. in the appeal.  Berlin added, “we think that (FERC has) to issue a new environmental impact statement and consider all over again whether the project is consistent with the public interest.”  Today’s Herald News has the story.
