Fall River Officials Boycott Meeting on Weaver’s Cove Emergency Response Plan
Weaver’s Cove Energy held a meeting yesterday to solicit input from Massachusetts fire and police officials regarding an emergency management plan for the company’s FERC-approved LNG terminal in Fall River, Mass. Fall River city officials boycotted the meeting, which was closed to the press and public. “We have long agreed that there was no way to put together a viable security plan for that facility, and we communicated that many times to Weaver’s Cove,” said Fall River Mayor Edward Lambert, Jr. Weaver’s Cove spokesperson James A. Grasso responded that it was in the city’s “best interest to attend” and said that the company can move forward in developing the plan without Fall River’s input. The Providence Journal has the story.
