Fall River City Councilor Urges City to Use Eminent Domain Against Weaver’s Cove
In a resolution filed yesterday, Fall River City Council President William F. Whitty has asked the city to revisit the possibility of using eminent domain to block the Weaver’s Cove LNG project, a tactic previously advanced by former Fall River mayoral candidate F. George Jacome. However, Fall River Mayor Edward M. Lambert, Jr. disagreed with Whitty’s proposal, noting that “It’s not wise to start up a losing strategy, when we already have several winning strategies in place,” referring to several legal challenges aimed at blocking the terminal’s development.
