Fall River Appeals FERC Order in Weaver’s Cove To 1st Circuit

Fall River today asked the First Circuit Court of Appeals to review FERC’s approval of the Weaver’s Cove terminal. Fall River Mayor Lambert, Mass. Attorney General Reilly, Rhode Island Attorney General Lynch and the Massachusetts Energy Facilities Siting Board filed the appeal; the Conservation Law Foundation filed a similar one in the same court.  Attorney General Lynch stated:  “It’s not right to have a substance of this volatility traveling through 23.5 miles of Rhode Island waters and passing under four bridges in order to reach the proposed Weaver’s Cove site. It’s not right to deliver LNG to facilities located in densely populated cities, when other viable alternatives exist.”  The Worcester Telegram & Gazette and local Providence NBC affiliate WJAR have the story.  Attorney General Lynch’s press release also discusses the appeal.
