Rio Grande LNG EPC Contract Now Expected Third Quarter 2019

Platts reports that NextDecade has decided not to move forward with an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract with McDermott International for NextDecade’s proposed Rio Grande LNG project on the Brownsville, Texas Ship Channel. An EPC contract is now expected to be reached in the third quarter of 2019 after competitive bidding process and prior to a final investment decision on the project. According to the report, “that timing would keep NextDecade on target to begin commercial operations as early as 2023.”
