Report Assesses Cost of Alaska’s Buyout of TransCanada’s Stake in Alaska LNG Project
A report by Black and Veatch estimates that the near-term cost for Alaska to buyout TransCanada Corp.’s stake in the Alaska LNG Project would be $108 million. According to an Alaska Journal of Commerce article, the report “estimates annual state revenues in the $3 billion to $5 billion range, totaling $76.7 billion over 20 years with TransCanada’s participation and $84.1 billion without” TransCanada. The possible buyout will be an agenda item to be discussed when a special legislative session convenes on October 24.
