DOE Authorizes LNG Exports from Floridian Natural Gas Storage Facility to FTA Nations

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has issued an order authorizing Floridian Natural Gas Storage Company, LLC, (Floridian) to export LNG produced at Floridian’s proposed liquefaction and storage facility in Martin County, Fla., and transported via ISO containers on trucks for ultimate export via ocean-going vessels to nations with a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the United States.  Floridian anticipates the points of export to include the Port of Palm Beach, Port Everglades, Port of Miami, Port Canaveral, Port of Tampa, Port Manatee, and Port of Jacksonville, Fla.  The volume authorized for export is approximately 14.6 Bcf/year of natural gas (0.04 Bcf/day), less the portion of that volume that may be under firm contract directly or indirectly to Carib Energy (USA) LLC.  DOE will consider Floridian’s request to export LNG to non-FTA nations separately.
