Bear Head LNG Receives DOE Approval to Export LNG from Canada to FTA Countries
Bear Head LNG announced that the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has granted Bear Head LNG Corporation and Bear Head LNG (USA), LLC authorization (1) to export up to 440 Bcf/year of U.S. natural gas to supply Bear Head LNG’s proposed liquefaction and LNG export terminal on the Strait of Canso, Nova Scotia, and (2) to export up to eight million tonnes per year of LNG from the proposed terminal to nations with a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the United States. Bear Head LNG’s DOE application to export LNG to non-FTA nations is pending. According to the press release, a final investment decision on the proposed terminal is expected in 2016.
