Alaska Governor Vetoes Bill Limiting Pipeline Options
On Friday, Alaska Governor Bill Walker vetoed HB 132, which restricts the Alaska Gasline Development Corporation from actively working on any gas line project other than the Alaska LNG Project. Walker stated that the bill “prevents the state from having an adequate backup plan should the [Alaska LNG Project] not proceed.” The State of Alaska is partner in the Alaska LNG Project with TransCanada, ExxonMobil, ConocoPhillips and BP, which project consists of a proposed 800-mile pipeline to access North Slope gas supplies and an LNG export terminal near Nikiski, Alaska.
