First Nations Sign Pipeline Benefit Agreements with B.C.
The Skin Tyee First Nation (Skin Tyee) and Nee Tahi Buhn Indian Band (Nee Tahi Buhn) in northern British Columbia (B.C.) have signed pipeline benefit agreements with the B.C. government allowing them to benefit from the proposed Coastal GasLink Pipeline project, which will run through the tribes’ lands to provide gas supplies to LNG Canada’s proposed LNG export terminal at Kitimat, B.C. The Skin Tyee will receive approximately $2.8 million from B.C. at various stages in the project’s development and the Nee Tahi Buhn will receive approximately $2.5 million.
